BOW DOWN TO GOOGLE
I have done it since birth. Not really read the directions to anything. I would learn by playing the video game, assembling things the way I felt were right and just doing it my way. And now it came to bite me in the ass a bit, but an amazing tool for marketing your film. GOOGLE ADWORDS (Click Here).
I am sure everyone sees these ad words to the right of the screen at google.com or any of their partner sites. It was decided that we would put google adwords up for our specific genres to help target those looking for information about documentaries or health and fitness might be able to find us and your film. So we did this for our documentaries on war with a keyword "IRAQ". Not reading the directions, i just assumed they showed me the updated stats as of today. I just sat there looking at the screen and not seeing any action for any of the keywords and i kind of felt a bit bummed out. But then, we had a spurt of sales come in minutes apart from each other all for the same film about the war. So I went back and checked the ad words and noticed that no action happened. Until I saw the date the activity is for "NOVEMBER 2004".
So I changed it to "MARCH 2005" and holy cow, hits through the roof. In one day it had drawn 500 hits to the site and had impressions of 125,000. I only noticed it because we had a SPIKE in SALES!
So take some money, and put it into google adwords and watch sales happen.
